![]() ![]() Honestly, Holden should have just let Amos take care of him around the time everyone was getting their vision back. Ethe expanse books series#Felt like a chore to read, and led me to taking a break from the series for something like six months.Ĭibola Burn, Murtry probably should have bothered me more than he did, but I really only thought he was completely unreasonable in the last 10% of the book or so. Abbadon's Gate, on the other hand, I think there was a lot to like in the book, but for whatever reason I absolutely hated the coup/counter-coup plot on the Behemoth. Nemesis Games an Babylon's Ashes were good books, but I was always more interested in the exploration/protomolecule story than conflict between the Planets and Belt, so while I enjoyed them, I didn't necessarily love them. I'm almost sad that it's about to be over!Ībsolutely loved the top 5. Stepping aside from the main novels to read Memory's Legion, the Expanse short story collection, before jumping into the very last book. Especially Miller's character and his quest. I almost want to tie it with Leviathan Wakes as best book of the series but LW just hit me a little different. It was all really well-written with good characters and development. The last third of that book was just O.O and even the rest of it, while not heavy on the action, set the scene perfectly. I do edit my original post after finishing Tiamat's Wrath. Persepolis Rising (might tie this one with NG, both really good)Ĭibola Burn (kinda fun just seeing how much shit can go wrong lol a lot of progress made with the protomolecule story arc)Ībaddon's Gate (Clarissa was an AWESOME baddy but everything else was kind of forgettable)īabylon's Ashes (the weakest book of the series too many POV characters, many of which were just kinda lame not a terrible read in and of itself, just the weakest of the series) Nemesis Games (the back stories I'd been waiting for very impactful loved the post-apocalyptic atmosphere on Earth) Tiamat's Wrath (okay I take back my original ranking that WAS dope)Ĭaliban's War (introduced Bobbie, Prax, and Avasarala the monster was dope almost wanna tie it with TM for #2) Leviathan Wakes (the book that started it all, and many scenes that just really resonated with me loved Miller's character) ![]() Gods of Risk - Insights into life on Mars, and a little backstory for Bobby aside from teaching us about Martian civilian society and culture, there wasn't much else there that ties into the broader story The Butcher of Anderson Station - Character development for Fred I kind of wish this one was longer Vital Abyss - We peer into the mind of a sociopathic mad scientist it's a great exploration of human ambition The Churn - We learn why Amos is the way he is (they did a great job fleshing out his identity), and a little more about life on Earth (which was sorely missing up to this point) Strange Dogs - Heart warming story and an insight into PM technology (fantastic story telling from a child's perspective) It didn't mesh with the realism of the rest of the series for me. Ethe expanse books movie#It was fun (in the same way an action movie is fun), but the absurdity of the situations everyone got themselves into (and survived, unscathed) was more than a bit silly. I know people love NG on here, but it was just way too over-the-top for me. Nemesis Games - Fun action story, but too over-the-top for my tastes ![]() Persepolis Rising - We finally find out what Duarte has been up to an overall intriguing shake-up for the story wasn't a fan of the time skip, but it was necessary the battle with the Tempest was a little unbelievable (I think it needed more than a self-healing hull to survive what it did) Tiamat's Wrath - Superb balance of action and emotionīabylon's Ashes - The story of humanity rebuilding and coming together in new ways (I liked this story, even if Michio is probably the worst perspective character in the series for me)Ībaddon's Gate - We are introduced to Clarissa (great character development) but otherwise a tame setting for this series (good, complex villain though) wasn't a fan of losing Bull after just one bookĬibola Burn - Our first foray into an alien world (great world building book) but unlikeable supporting characters and weak villain (he was less a villain and more the only sensible supporting character in the book) Leviathan Wakes - Sets a fantastic tone for the series and everything that it's about ![]()
